For ages 8 to adult

Our DNA is what makes us human, what makes us unique, and what connects us to every other human on Earth as well as to all the other life on this planet.

This is a simple, somewhat whimsical, introduction to the science of our shared genetic inheritance. It was written and illustrated with young readers and colorists in mind.

It is a free resource*. Download it, print it, color it, and share it with anyone who you think might benefit from learning a little more about the tiny thin thread of life.

A side note: While this was created for young learners, I sincerely hope it ends up in the hands of grown-ups who might benefit from learning about basic genetics as well. I do not say that in jest. I used to do a lot of illustration for children’s science magazines, but maybe I should have concentrated on doing more science artwork for grown-ups. To my dismay, when I became a hereditary cancer caregiver, and later as an advocate, I came to realize far too many adults suffer from a lack of knowledge of basic biology, and even fewer possess basic knowledge of genomic science.  -- Mark A. Hicks, creator of this resource
